As a music and lifestyle blogger, I'm constantly looking to try new things, which is totally against my nature. I'm a homebody, so I have to force myself to have a life. Anyway, my girlfriend and I decided to take a weekend trip up to San Clemente, CA. It's a little over 30 miles away but completely foreign to us.

We avoided sleeping in and headed up the Californian coast around 8 am. We listened to the gruesome but wildly entertaining Sword and Scale podcast on our way there. Carmen, my girlfriend, reviewed Active Culture and Sensitive Sweets all throughout the morning. We finally arrived at the hotel around 3:00 pm for check-in.

I sled the card key into room 311 and walked into a small living room area with a workspace, table, chairs and a pullout sofa bed. It was much more space than we ever used but the idea of having it there was great.

The bathroom had all the bare essentials; towels, toiletries, and hot water. The room was ample enough for two people and had a very nice and comfortable-looking bed with plenty of pillows. The wood floors were a nice touch. On the other side of the room was a open closet nook and the television, microwave, and refrigerator.

Amenities

The room had a 25 inch television with full cable and HBO. Although we didn't use the microwave and refrigerator at all, I appreciated the option to use it. My girlfriend and I spent most of our time in San Clemente out and about so we're always grateful for any amenities available.

Location

Technically, we did have a ocean view. I really enjoyed that it was located so close to downtown San Clemente. It was a 5 minute drive to the beach and pier. Therw were plenty of restaurants, coffee shops and bars in the same vicinity.

Bottom Line

Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at America's Best Value Inn in San Clemente. It was a budget-friendly choice that did not disappoint. With taxes and fees, the total came out to $95.70. That's a steal in my book.

  1. Looks good for a budget hotel :)

I hate spending too much on a hotel room, after all it's usually just somewhere to lay your head after a great day out.
