Recently, I discovered trap music. Like an angel coming down to save me from my distaste for music, this rap genre re-ignited a passion for music that once was burning strong. For the longest time I had dismissed trap as a genre mainly because I'm a certified music snob but also because I thought the trend would go the way of niche genres like vapor wave and witch house. While making a mix cd for my girlfriend, however, I found tons of new artists I had never paid attention to before.

One of these musical talents was the Atlanta rapper, Future. His latest release, HNDRXX, came out recently and only one week after his previous LP release. After a bad breakup, he dedicated himself to being as musically productive as possible. His hard work definitely paid off.

Future's vulnerability is haunting and entertaining at the same time. He calls out his exes and details his latest spending habit exploits across the entire album. Most every song contains a reference to a luxury car, watch, fashion designer, or drug. That's exactly why I loved this album. Whether I'm writing a new blog post for my clients, driving to the store to pick up groceries, or taking a shower, HNDRXX always gets me pumped up no matter how many times I listen to it.

Every track features skittering hi-hats, heavy kick drums, and mind-altering synthesizers that will give you a natural high. Future even brings out guest musical features like the Weeknd on "Coming Out Strong" and Rihanna on "Selfish." "Hallucinating" has my favorite instrumental beat off the album because the synthesizer sounds like a ghost whispering sweet nothings. "Solo" has another great ear-grabbing synthesizer that sound like a melancholic yet melodic ambulance siren.

If you listen to anything this year, check out Future's HNDRXX because a life without his music would just be sad. Enter a world where you can fly on private jets, go to St.Tropez, basically a life you will most likely never have. Future knows how to go big and I thank him for knowing how to spend money in the most entertaining and enjoyable way possible.
