Millions of Americans today are vegetarians, vegans, or follow a vegetarian-inclined diet. I'm the latter. I adopted this healthy lifestyle mainly because my girlfriend is a vegetarian and has been for most of her life. Eating healthier has truly made me feel more energetic, focused, and better than everyone else. After many years of time-intensive and meticulous research, I've rounded up my favorite vegetarian meats on the market (in no particular order).

1. Morning Star Farms - Buffalo Wings

Spicy, zesty, and juicy, these "wings" look more like nuggets but who cares because they taste delicious. An entire bag of these breaded, hot and crunchy wings can feed two to three people, although I could eat it all by myself.

2. Gardein - Turk'y Cutlets

When baking these in the oven, they come out crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside. But what makes this cruelty-free meat a favorite is the homestyle gravy packets it comes with. Pour it on top of the cutlets or the mashed potatoes that you make on the side.

3. Morning Star - Sausage Links

Prepare these for breakfast, lunch and dinner because you won't to stop eating them. I prefer these links over the bacon because these plump and savory sausages have much better texture and flavor. I also prefer these over the sausage patties because I'm not a fan of most every vegetarian patty.

4. Morning Star - Vegan Chick'n Strips

These chick'n strips can be mixed with any vegetable, sauce, or cooked any way you want. They are hearty and delicious and already in strip form. The texture is great and I appreciate that they are lightly seasoned because you flavor them as you like.

5. Gardein - Mandarin Orange Crispy Chik'n

I like to add quinoa, rice, couscous, and/or vegetables on the side. If you crave your orange chicken from your favorite fast food restaurant, then these will be an healthier and equally appetizing meal. I've learned to use about 1/2 to 3/4 of the sauce packet since there's is so much of it.

6. Trader Joe's - Italian Sausageless Sausage

I don't usually shop at Trader Joe's but when I do I make sure to get a pack of these and of course, some affordable and quality wine. Many people think these are too salty, but I like them just fine. The flavors are excellent throughout. I like to use these for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

7. Gardein - Seven-Grain Crispy Tenders

I really enjoy the grains around the tenders because they add texture with every bite. Their long and thin shape make them easy to dip into some ketchup or your favorite condiment. Just remember to put some tinfoil or flip them over halfway while in the oven with a spatula so the breading doesn't fall off.

There are tons of vegetarian and vegan meats out there, some more expensive than other but I tried to stay in the affordable spectrum of healthy frozen foods. While I do enjoy a burger every now and then, I enjoy being able to making a healthy dinner with my girlfriend and living longer than you because of it. What do you think of my meatless meat list? Have you tried any of these?

  1. great post. I'll have to share with my boyfriend, who also battles dating a vegetarian lol. & I'll have to try the buffalo wings. I'm usually not a fan of meatless meats, but like some of the ones' you mentioned, some are actually pretty tasty.
