1. De Lux - "30"

I just got on the De Lux bandwagon and I'm not planning on getting of anytime soon. I was instantly hooked upon listening to the first track, "LA Threshold," off their debut LP, Generation, but the second track, "30," is a real infectious ear worm that the CDC should put on their high priority list. It's funky, bouncy, and energetic. Not only that, but the lyrics really struck a chord with me. I can't wait to see them at Coachella.

2. Diiv - "Dopamine"

Zachary Cole Smith came out with this gem of a track from his band's latest album, Is The Is Are. It's got a healthy dose of emotion locked inside a shoegazey, introspective pop song. Although Diiv's debut, Oshin, was pretty broody, melancholic, and mellow, their follow up is far more inward-looking. It's the type of song you put on, hop on your bike and ride aimlessly and get lost without a care in the world.

3. Death Grips - "Hot Head"

I always saw Death Grips as a hybrid between Bad Brains and GG Allin and this song is the perfect representation of my exact sentiment. The song is chaotic and abrasive. Zach Hill's breakneck drums and MC Ride's apathetic yet aggressive tone and flow is exactly what made me love Death Grips in the first place. Although I don't appreciate the flakiness that has characterized this band as of late, I can't hold it over them because this track is fire.

4. Sheer Mag - "Fan the Flames"

Sheer Mag is one of my new favorite bands. I found them while researching Coachella bands and I was so drawn to the intricate guitar work, but especially the female vocalist's melodies and barely audible voice. It had a certain quirk that most people wouldn't appreciate, but I think it adds character and a bit of an edge.

5. Your Old Droog - "42 (Forty Deuce) [Prod. By Marco Polo]"

I found out about Your Old Droog from listening to the Rosenthal & Jeselnik: Vanity Project podcast. Your Old Droog has catchy beats, a smooth flow, and he's quite the lyricist. It's a little bit 90's, a bit 80's, but totally fresh. If you dig this track, make sure to check out his SoundCloud, especially his track titled "Basketball & Seinfeld."
